The Reverend Dr Jenny McKay is an ordained minister and the Head of Veterinary Anatomic Pathology at a Fortune 1000 company. Both a Reverend, and a Vet.
The daughter of a Church organist, she became disillusioned with the church at a young age for not speaking to her contemporary culture. Dedicating her life to science and animal welfare she found her life unexpectedly thrown into turmoil by the six months of chemotherapy required to battle a grade 2 malignant breast carcinoma.
Her cancer diagnosis forced her to reconsider her faith, and Jenny emerged from the ordeal as a “Minister in Secular Employment”.
She is one of a small number of ministers using social media professionally to speak to a wide and diverse audience.
A strong advocate that science and religion are not exclusive, a cancer survivor and a female vicar within a historically patriarchal system.
Jenny has featured in publications such as Women and Home Magazine and the Metro as well as taking part in numerous BBC radio interviews. She runs a wide range of online groups and activities including The Spinning Vicar, Faith Questions and Pet Prayer.
Jenny considers herself to be an environmentalist, activist and self-confessed cat junkie.
